2024-25 season recap

If you guys want to see anything else or know how a certain team is doing, leave a comment!

2024 Olympics

Gold: France

Silver: Italy

Bronze: Portugal

In the Group Stage, there were no surprises, everyone who you would think would get through did, except for Brazil, but that's only because they were in the same group as France and Italy, and even then, all three finished the group with 6 points, but Brazil got knocked out on goal difference.

The knockout stage was even more predictable. The Netherlands beat Algeria, France beat Belgium, Italy beat Colombia, and Portugal beat the US. The better team won in all of those games, and that would continue into the Semifinals, with France and Italy, the best two teams in the tournament according to the world rankings, won their games.

France, who was the best team in the tournament, ended up beating Italy 2-1 in the final to earn a gold medal. Italy walked away with a silver medal, and Portugal got the bronze.

Old Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing in 2025. Messi retired back in 2023, and Ronaldo is 40 years old. At this point, Ronaldo has regressed a ton, but he is still at Juventus. However, Ronaldo is no longer good enough for Juventus, and so he is playing for the Juventus U23 team. I think that when he was put into the U23 team, he finally accepted that he was aging, and decided to retire because he only played in 1 game for the U23 team.

The rise of Stuttgart

Stuttgart started in the 2. Bundesliga in 2019-20, and they have risen rapidly back to their old standards. After finishing 2nd in the 2. Bundesliga and achieving automatic promotion to the Bundesliga, they didn't go out and spend a bunch of money, instead, they used their youth academy to make their club better and better. They were a mid-table club for a few years, finishing 11th in 2020-21, 12th in 2021-22, and 10th in 2022-23, but then in the 2023-24 season, they came out of nowhere and finished 5th. I was surprised when I saw this, and I thought that no way would they be able to do it again, but in 2024-25, they finished 3rd and qualified for the champions league, as well as winning the DFB-Pokal. Will Stuttgart be able to keep this going or will they fall back into mid-table?
